Xem VanAdams Celebrates One Year on Youtube

A year ago today, Xem Van Adams began conquering the world “one word at a time.”

His Youtube channel began on August 8th, 2008 and he’s been spreading the gospel of truth ever since. In his anniversary video, he asks viewers how they discovered the world of XemmyBear:

I was introduced to Xem through Darian Aaron last August. A year later, I still believe his first major series, “Young, Black and Gay in America” is some of his best work.

Since then, his channel (as well as his website) has covered a plethora of issues including religion, coming out, fashion, music and sexual stereotyping in the gay community.

There’s an authenticity about Xem sorely lacking in the black LGBT “community.” He asks the questions no one wants to ask, he says the controversial things many of us are thinking and encourages everyone else to live in their truth.

If you haven’t already, please check out his last major series, “Color Lines Across Rainbow Skies.” It explores many of the issues I tackle in my academic work.

Xem is definitely one to watch (no pun intended, lol)

Happy Anniversary Xem!
